About this course

Health and Safety Representatives performs various legally required functions in any organization. The law requires every employer who employs more that 20 employees, to appoint Health and Safety representatives. In this course you will learn about the legal requirements pertaining to the appointment, duties, functions and responsibilities of a health and safety representative. You will learn the foundations of Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, how to conduct Health and Safety Inspections and writing basic health and safety reports. The course includes the following:

  • - Define and describe basic health and safety concepts and terminology

  • - Explain what the health and safety act is and what its purpose is.

  • - Understand the legal requirements pertaining to the management of health and safety in your workplace, as well as the responsibilities of your employer, fellow employees and health and safety representatives.

  • - Understand the importance of health and safety in the workplace.

  • - Demonstrate an understanding of how to prevent and manage incidents and accidents in the workplace.

  • - Identify and understand the different control measures that van be implemented in the workplace to manage risk.

  • - Understand what health and safety monitoring is.
